SHORT SYNOPSIS
Torn between true love and the desire for wealth, Manon Lescaut chooses a life of luxury over her impoverished lover, the student Des Grieux. Her tragic descent from a high-society courtesan in Paris to a convicted, abused exile in Louisiana ultimately leads to her death in Des Grieux’s arms in the swamps of New Orleans.
