Modern Rome provides the backdrop for this unmissable, captivating new interpretation of Puccini’s thriller, directed by Oliver Mears.

65 years after its premiere, Royal Ballet presents Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée. A loving depiction of village life combines wry humour and brilliantly imaginative choreography in Ashton’s love letter to the English countryside. With Ferdinand Hérold’s cheerful music and Osbert Lancaster’s colourful sets, The Poorly Guarded Girl transports us to idyllic, bucolic bliss.

Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker has been captivating audiences since its premiere in 1984. Brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s most famous melodies and Julia Trevelyan Oman’s beautiful sets and costumes, The Nutcracker is sure to be a feast for all ages!

La Traviata is as intimate as it is lavish! Featuring some of the most famous melodies in operatic literature, it offers a star-studded role for the title character, played by the incredibly talented soprano Ermonela Jaho. In director Richard Eyre’s lavish world, Verdi’s opera is centered on a tender yet devastating beauty.

Virginia Woolf defied literary convention to depict a rich inner world – her heightened, startling and poignant reality. Resident choreographer Wayne McGregor leads a distinguished team of artists to evoke Woolf’s signature stream-of-consciousness writing in this vast work that rejects traditional narrative structures. Ballet Choreographies for Virginia Woolf is a collage of Mrs. Dalloway, Orlando, The Waves and other Woolf themes. Created for the Royal Ballet in 2015, this Olivier Award-winning ballet triptych captures the essence of Woolf’s unique spirit.

English subtitles. Running time 210 minutes (with two intermissions).

Peter Wright’s 1985 production of Giselle is the quintessential Romantic ballet and a classic of the Royal Ballet’s repertoire. Giselle – a story of love, betrayal and forgiveness – evokes the realms of the here and now with choreography by Adolphe Adam to atmospheric music and period-accurate sets by John Macfarlane.

English subtitles. Running time 195 minutes (with two intermissions).

Mozart’s fantastic opera, The Magic Flute, shines in David McVicar’s enchanting direction. The stars – including Julia Bullock as Pamina, Amitai Pati as Tamino, Huw Montague Rendall as Papageno, Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night and Soloman Howard as Sarastro – are conducted by French conductor Marie Jacquot in her Covent Garden debut.
